Cape Armature Winders was established more than forty years ago and has built up a reputation as one of the premier service providers of electrical and mechanical repairs to AC and DC motors, alternators, pumps and generators in South Africa.

Tracing our roots back to our inception in 1970, Cape Armature Winders is both family owned and operated ensuring not only that we have a deep understanding of every aspect of the business but also that we understand and value our clients’ business no matter the size of the project.

Extensive experience across various sectors, highly skilled technical staff and state-of-the-art machines and facilities has enabled us to serve clients in the mining, marine, industrial, steel and petro-chemical industries as well as parastatals.

Maintaining Forward Momentum

Operational restructuring took place in mid-2015, to align our business operations with our core growth strategies. Under the new structure, CAW is organised and operated in five divisions structured largely by sector categories, which deliver services and capabilities that are most valuable to our customers businesses – CAW Electric Motor Rewinding & Repairs, CAW Pumps, CAW Rail, CAW Engineering and CAW Electrical.

“The implementation of our new business structure is an important step forward for CAW. For 47 years our clients and business partners have become familiar with Cape Armature Winders. With the move into our much larger super facility, and expansion of service capabilities, it is important that we have an operational structure in place that supports the future direction of the mining, transport, marine, oil and gas, industrial, steel, petro-chemical and parastatal sectors of the business community.”

“The re-organisation has helped unlock the value of our service and the growth potential of our business. It has driven focused investment on our staff, equipment and infrastructure, allowing us to provide a wider range of services to our customers. It was the logical next step in our on-going commitment to excellence.” – Nick Epenetos, Director, CAW

Sharpening Our Strategy

2015 was a pivotal year where we embarked on a new strategy to realise our vision for the next 20 years. Our strategy took flight in our re-brand to reflect who we are today and to symbolise our dynamic future. It wasn’t a decision we made lightly because we are proud of our rich history. That’s why the new CAW logo displays our founding date of 1970, including the blue pantone.

Over the years, many people, including our staff and our clients, have gone from calling us ‘Cape Armature Winders’, to the shortened version of ‘CAW’. It’s for this reason that we’ve strived to maintain an iconic and recognizable logo to satisfy all of the existing expectations of what our original mark stands for…while simultaneously moving the brand forward.
